The debut of Apple's first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, saw customers line up at retail locations globally on Friday, October 23. Apple confirmed that stores worldwide were busy as the device became available, offering demonstrations and purchase support to attendees.

Queues formed overnight at various locations, with individuals attempting to purchase the new model directly without prior reservations. Apple had previously indicated that the number of units available for walk-in customers would be constrained. This warning appears to have been accurate, as store representatives informed some arriving customers that stock was unavailable.

Apple has directed individuals unable to purchase a device on the initial release date to consult the official mobile application. The company plans to update in-store inventory information within the app tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET. Apple has also distributed images depicting the global launch activity.

Senior Vice President of worldwide marketing Greg Joswiak marked the release at the Fifth Avenue flagship in New York City. Retail executive Vanessa Trigub joined him for the occasion. The company's retail chief, Deirdre O'Brien, attended a separate event in Austin, Texas.

Apple CEO John Ternus was also present in Austin at the Domain NORTHSIDE location for the launch. Reports indicate Ternus visited the company's Austin offices earlier this week. The Austin location coincides with the Formula 1 United States Grand Prix occurring this weekend, where Apple serves as the exclusive F1 streamer in the US.

The event marks the retail availability of the foldable technology. Customers were invited to experience the hardware through hands-on demonstrations and personalized shopping support provided by team members.

While lines formed for potential walk-in purchases, inventory at physical locations was reported as limited. The company is guiding customers toward digital channels to monitor future stock levels.

Store representatives are directing those who missed out on immediate purchase to check inventory updates through the Apple Store app. The next inventory check is scheduled for tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET.
